Project 4- Volvelle

So, I think I have a pretty cool idea for this project. I would very much like to make use of you, my beautiful twitter friends, to make it happen. (if you don’t know what a Volvelle is, google does. :D)
I was thinking that for the outer circle I would have your avis, and your twitter handle. Information in the inner circle would probably be a regular picture of you, your real name, age, location, and occupation. I want at least 12 people, and I have a few of you in mind to start with, if you’re amenable, and I’ll tweet y’all directly in a few minutes here. But if anyone is interested, I’m sure you know I’m @AlakiNoelle, so please jump right in and volunteer!

Love you all
Cierra

Love you to Death

All credit is to @SweetKirabella. Going to be setting my stop motion video to this, somehow. Haven’t decide if I’m going to make music or read it or what, yet. But at least there’s lyrics!

“I will love you ‘til I die
But, I can’t love you to death
No more. Too many tears I’ve cried
How many nights have I waited
For dreams hoping to come true?
Gave you a chance, and was slated
I won’t die for you.

What is it you want from me
Baby what can I do?
What do you see when you look at me
Am I the girl you knew?

If it means holding you
Through held breath
I can do that.
Like a candle waiting for its wick to burn
I’m lost in regret
No, I can’t love you to death.

So much time wasted
And more dreams burned
I’ve come to the point of no return
So much I’ve learnt
By being burned.

What is it you want from me.
Baby, what can I do?
Am I the girl you knew?
I love you. But I can’t love you to death”

(thank you so much for letting me use this, love. It’s gorgeous)

Groupthink response

What does the article suggest is the strength behind creative process? In what way could we improve this in education?

The article suggests that having the opportunity to communicate ideas with people of diverse specilizations and educational backgrounds, both in a professional setting (with encouragement of criticism and discussion) as well as a casual setting (accidental conversations in the hall on the way to the washroom) is greatly beneficial to the creative process. It allows for greater diversity in how the problems are approached, and when a solution is offered thy is totally outside the scope of what is expected and considered “normal”, it causes everyone to find more and more solutions of increasing creativity. While these solutions may not be even remotely useful, they are at least the product of innovation and creative stimulation.
A good way to improve the creative process in education would be to encourage more communication between the areas of study (less locking of the fine arts students in basements, and bringing the science students in from the remote buildings, maybe?) Also, more student diversity in classes, with lots of encouragement to share ideas and collaborate on projects and problems could help with creativity a bit. Obviously, I am not a psychologist, and I don’t know whether any of this would be effective at all, but that’s why I’m here, and that’s what this is all about. Learning.

A collection of the most beautiful things I saw over reading week. I’ll post the drawing of the most beautiful thing once I get my hands on a scanner. :)

The word I chose to demonstrate this time was: Pretty.

This is because everyone who ends up standing in my room and looking around at the posters goes “it’s really pretty in here!”. I dunno, I felt like an auto-align layers of the one half of my room was a good plan. I basically just did an auto-align of all the layers, followed by an auto-blend. And then I cropped it so there was no unsightly areas of transparency left over.

The many portrait shots that we experimented with. My roommate (@Vampyre_kittey) is the best. She lets me use her pretty camera, and even becomes camera wench and photography tutor when required.

So I merged the two bottom photos, using a hard light blending layer after erasing the background from the signed phone. After I’d done that, I didn’t find the colors to be intense enough, so on the phone layer I adjusted the hue and saturation to intensify the existing blue.

(ETA: I suppose I should mention the word was love.)

So, I only edited a bit, and the masking is a little rough, but I don’t think it’s too terrible for a first attempt. I love the color of her hair, a lot, so I tried to bring it out more. And the slight glow the strands got was accidental, but amazing in my opinion.

Project 1 definitions

So these are the dictionary definitions of the words we have to choose from, I figured they might come in handy. My own personal impressions of the meanings are staying safely in my head though.

Arcane - secret and mysterious
Fearless - having no fear; brave
Swift - 1 happening quickly or promptly
2 moving or able to move very fast
3 a fast-flying bird with long, slender wings
Frantic - 1 agitated because of fear, anxiety, etc.
2 done in a hurried and chaotic way
Weary - 1 tired
2 causing tiredness
3 bored with (weary of)

So Heather (my roommate, whom owns the DSLR I’m using) was trying to help me figure out the proper way to do the narrow-middle ground field of view, and she was playing with settings to explain how to use her camera in the right way, and this is what she came up with. This would be why she used to work in a photography studio, and why I’m the one being taught. Thought it was awesome and worth showing to the rest of you.
